Hello Everyone...I took this shot of the State St Pier in Santa Barbara a few weeks ago. It was a few hours before sunset and I caught the sun shining through this lantern. I sped up the shutter to 1/2000 to give it that dark effect, otherwise the sun was still strong enough to blow up any of the details.

Please give me your comments

thanks

i really like the idea you have here...

the position of the flag could have been a tad lower, as it kind of takes away from the effect of the lantern. i'd bump up your aperature a bit more aswell.. It's a really cool idea though!

interesting idea. what is the stuff poking up on top of the lantern? unsure I like your photo - the flag is distracting and the color is unnatural. but I think it could be a great photo given the right conditions.

the color in your member picture is very very nice.

edit.the lamp is not straight, which also detracts.

Hey guys, thanks for your input...

I haven't done any PP on this shot at all, which is why the lamp was not straightened. I agree that it detracts slightly. As far as the angle is concerned, this was the only one I could take it at because the pier is pretty narrow and you can only move back and forth so much, and we all know that the sun is where it is...lol...nothing I can do if i don't want to wait for it to move.

As far as the little stuff sticking out, I think its part of the post...I don't know what purpose it serves. And for the color of the photograph, I am surprised that it has this sephia tone, I thought it would be more gray and black, instead its this color. And all I did was speed up the shutter...hmm...wonder why

Probablyput there to stop birds perching and subsequently crap*ing on the lamp and flag.
