My first nature shot - I got way up close and it was a little dark under the brush, plus a very cloudy day. Shot with rebel xt, 85mm f5.6 - thank goodness for the IS, since it was a 1/8 second exposure - and ISO 400.

Any advice appreciated as I'm a total newbie!

thanks
sally

Looks promising. Just a few notes and keep in my this is just my opinion. If the subject will sit still, choose a tripod over IS so you can use lower ISO and get a clearer shot all around. Even with IS this shot turned out a bit soft. I would also have shot tighter or cropped tighter. The dead growth in the corner does nothing for the shot if you ask me.
The frog and its reflection could make a great shot.

i agree with widowmaker.. i did a quick edit to show a little tighter crop and to clean up the background.. i also boosted the saturation just a bit and did a little unsharp mask... keep in mind this is a quick edit and i didn't blend everything in real well..
