Nice capture. The only thing is it looks just slightly out of focus, or maybe it just needs some sharpening.

Well I was using that special mode on my camera for really close up shots.

it is a bit on the soft side... in general a tripod is a big help on macros as camera shake is magnified with such close working distances... also i would have cropped off the red on the right hand side of the frame..

I also think this looks very cool. If your just new to all this then well done its a great shot. If we're not trying to tell a story with our photographs almost 90 percent of the rest of the time, we're out to produce something visually pleasing. In this you have done very well.

As hards says and I would agree.. think about a crop to take the post away. Experiment with rotation and see if another angle pops out at you, even just 90, 180, 270.

I think your focus is ok, justa sharpen will sort it out.

ps. actually I'm not sure about removing the post, its not too bad. But its slightly off vertical and even if its just by .5 or .25 of degree, best to straighten it up.
