It's not particularly sharp, but I don't think it matters at all.

I think this one is special, one of the best photos I've taken.

Your thoughts appreciated.

this is a great capture.. i am sure the arm is special to you as it is your wife's maybe (?), but for this shot i think just the expression from your infant is enough to carry this shot.. thus i would crop in a little tighter by taking some off the right hand side and place the emphasis on this wonderful expression..

i am a sucker for mono on shots like this where this is very little color.. so maybe a mono conversion with maybea hint of warmth would look very nice with this shot..

nice capture and thanks for sharing this photo that is so special to you..

regards, -dustin

the more i think about this one, i kind of like it in color too.. the flesh tones contrast nicely with the white sheets.. having the exposure spot on helps alot...

this is definately something that could be in an advertisement for baby powder or something..

Actually Dustin, I think the presence of Mags' arm helps us to 'see' what Lauren is looking at.It makes itall the more obvious that this is a look of unadulterated happiness, as opposed to Lauren simply being distracted that way.

What you suggested is not wrong of course, just another way of looking at it.

Another lovely shot Craig.

I like the cotton cover as the foreground, but the arm throws the picture off, in my opinion.

Also, the baby looks too far off to the left.

The idea is good.

This child is beautiful, and you did a great job of capturing the moment. And, if this is what you were thinking about when you decided to keep the arm in there, then it is perfect. However, I do like the edited black and white as well. Sentiment, however, is priceless.....

Thanks for all the comments.

It's clear that many people who look at this think it should be cropped, but I like the composition as is. The space in the frame and the scale of the arm makes her seem little (which of course she is) so that appeals to me.

I guess a cropped version is nice too, but I have lots of tight portraits of her which I think are better - certainly technically.

I think this may be simply one of those where some will like the composition and others not so much.

The advantage of being one's own "client" in these matters is that of course I am the only one who really has to like it. :-)

Though it's now starting to get to a stage where most of our friends have framed shots of their kids that I took. What fun!
