I posted this on another forum. The results were either hated it or loved it, so would like some more opinions.

I like the simple compo/background but the image appears to have an "orangey" glow about it-might be my monitor, though

i think people that hate it probably just don't like flower shots. i think it's lovely . i like the warm/soft light, and it has a pleasing composition.*

Thanks for your comments.

Julie, you may be right. On the other forum, one said they like it but it's too soft, then another (who is a "pro", and does exhibits) said he liked it. Perhaps it is a matter of taste.

the softness on this shot doesn't bother me much at all... all in all i think its pretty good really.. i don't think you need the leaves on the right hand side of the frame.. cropping them off will also let the flower open up into the shot a lil more..

As the yellow rose symbolizes friendship, you have portrayed it in utter warmth with the gentle dark background. The stem leads the eye both into and out of the picture. I am a fan of the yellow rose and this is beautiful.

I love yellow roses and love the color you've captured here. I would prefer an angle that allows me to see more details in the petals -but that may just be my preference and not anything that should concern you. Otherwise, it's a very nice shot.
