visited a butterfly pavillion a few days ago - fantastic!! took these shots with 18-55mm lens, i don't have a macro lens yet. i know they're a bit soft, but what do you think otherwise?

i'm new to SLR photography, though i've been a "shutterbug" most of my life. would really appreciate honest opinions - i can take it.

the composition #1 and #2 is just a bit straight on and 2-dimensional... more like you were documenting the butterflies and not creating a photograph.. try some different angles, see if you can get some depth in your shots..

#3 is a little more interesting, and the splash of color of the flower helps, but again, shoot from the side or something to give it some depth and 3rd dimension..
