This is my first attempt at using the channel mixer to do a BW conversion. Tips...comments...techniques arewelcome.

i think this subject is probably not the best for you to learn how to convert using the channel mixer since i am guessing the original shot has very little color in it.. the whole point of using the channel mixer to convert is manipulating the colors in the scene to increase the contrast once desaturated...

the best shot to practice is one that has quite a bit of foliage, maybe a prominant subject with some red in it and a blue sky.. that will allow you to see the effects of modifying all of the color channels and how that relates to the resulting shades of grey..

also, don't forget to use 'levels' on these shots too, this will give you truer blacks and whites..
