I was wondering if the crop and conversion to black and white worked. Did it turn a somewhat bland picture into anything interesting? I had to clone a lot of water to get to an 8x10 ratio although think it would have been better to have more cloud - cloning the clouds really made it look fake though. When I narrowed to crops and cut off part of the island to try to get away from the extra water, it didn't seem as isolated.

I think I like the uncropped version because the idea of Alcatraz is that it is isolated, although, the clouds look more ominous and foreboding in b&w. Its great!

To me, that's crying out to be made into a panorama shot.

Thanks for the comments. I have to remind myself that I don't need to restrict myself to "standard" photo ratios, ie 8x10 or 4x6 etc.
