Hi, everybody! I'm back here after almost a year of lurking, learning, and shooting.
When I joined Steve's forum I thought I knew everything. But, very soon I realized
that I know nothing in digital photography, so I desided to shut up and listen.
Now I think I'm ready to post again and get some feedback to my shots.
And, maybe, I could help someone who is in the same position I was 1.5 - 2 yrs ago.

This shot was taken with 20D and 70-200 f4 L. Please , critique!

P.S. English is my second language so I apologize in advance if anything...

The foliage in the background does not help the shot in my opinion. I would prefer all blue sky or something else in the bg. The nearest wingtip is in focus but not the farthest. You might try a little more DOF and make sure you focus around the eye so your DOF takes care of both wingtips.

Thanks for reply! Sorry, it took me so long to get back. I was shopping for new monitor all day today. Got it! But this is for another forum:-)
I agree about BG. Somethihg more solid would be better. I always try to focus on the eye, but it doesn't always work... In this shot the head looks in focus to me. You probably right about DOF. Aperture was f8 ( 1/1000; iso200). I should've stopped down more, boost ISO... Well...I have way to learn, It takes time to bring theory to practical use.

Thanks again, and here's another bird portrait. In focus.:-)

for the first shot.. i still think its a good attempt.. but kneeling down and stopping down a bit would have allowed you to silhouette against and even sky as well as getting both wings in focus.. but its still quite a good attempt..

I wouldn't call the "a good attempt" I think that is has some merit to it. The the folage adds some perspective.

Technicaly good...But c'mon don't shoot like Rambo, try to find more interesting subjects, or even better try to put common ones in a different perception...
