I'd have probably composed it the same. If you center the sun more, you lose the ends of the piers on the left, and as it is you have a lot of "thirds" going on (not that the "rule of thirds" should bind you anyway, but you have it here).

its a little dark in the foreground for me.. i would like to have more silhouetting of the ppl on the beach as i think that would have added much to this shot.. this is very close to being good, just a shade too dark..

Tried to brighten it a little but it didn't quite work. Instead I dropped some of the dark portion off the bottom. This might work out better
