it's so and so...surely it's not a bad shot.You have a nice subject :idea: but technicaly it's a mess.I think you know what i mean. Bad exposure...you don't have details in shadows .In this case you should always try bracketing mode...

if you wouldnt have told me it was an ax, i am not sure i would have known from this angle... you may wanto try this from a different angle...

a little diffused light would have helped your exposure as well.. light here was just too harsh..

Thank you both.

Maybe the composition is better here. I wish I had gotten the ax head above the horizon and I know the sky is blown out. I'll try again on the next clear day.

you may get in a little closer and do a semi macro of the head in the wood maybe.. and pick a better day for sure.. also, getting your subject out of the middle of the frame (i.e. put it on a 1/3) is usually more appealing..

harsh light and poor subject matter make for poor photographs...
