Dustin! I just got brave enough to critique your work!

I'm not a big B/W fan, but here I like B/W more. Here's why:
Model's hands resting on her legs look more red. Red part of the backdrop stands out too much.
Also I would remove that piece of the pillow sticking out on her left, and ask her to hide her heel underneath (sit on it)

I like lighting and exposure though. Very nice model, just kind of unhappy.

Just my courageous 2 cents...

thanks for the comments guys.. always appreciated..

do both hands look red to you.. the right one look slightly so on mine, but not really the left.. i will do a print and see how it looks and go from there.. i will go ahead and clone out the pillow on the right though.. i thought about it, and then forgot..

p.s. ESC- didn't your mom tell you that can make you go blind? :blah:

Hi I havent posted in here before but wanted to give my 2 pence worth, I think its a great shot I agree with getting the model to get the left heel under her because for me the poor fitting shoe really pulls me to it.

I would with hindsight of removed both cushions.

I like the expression and the framing is nice too.

I agree with the comments of the other gentlemen. The framing and the expression are cool. The red cloth seem to be interfering with my attentions too. From this perspective, the B&W is better.

Ok after I have looked at the image long enough to finally start paying attention to individual aspects I do see a few small details.

The pose of her left hand looks a little odd to me. Its a combination of it being right at the camera, a few white knuckles, the thumb bent in towards the fingers and the spacing of the pinky. Knuckles tend to be associated with masculinity. I'm not saying it makes her look masculine but rather takes some daintiness away from the hand. If the hand were slightly flatter (no knuckles), the thumb out like the thumb on the other hand and the pinky moved in, I think it would look better.

Something about her expression looks a little forced but not bad. Her left heel could have been turned in out of sight. I think the red cloth would have worked better if the trim on her apparel was red, otherwise I think the cloth and throw pillows are distractions. I really like the draped offwhite cloth and think it would have worked better completely or partially across the background.

On the plus side the overall pose is great and I like the lighting.

i have to echo widowmaker's comments...her expression seems a bit forced, and there seems to be a bit of softness to the face. the pillows are a distraction as is the position of the red cloth. the overall lighting is good and so is the pose, the heel/shoe thing doesn't bother me.how much time did you spend on this shoot? i ask because usually you are pretty meticulous about details and the overall feeling i get from this shoot- so far- is that it seems rushed.*

Maybe it was nervousness? :-)

Personally I prefer the B & W - just got a nicer feel about it.
