~These shoes were hanging off the wires at the end of a street. It's a common practice in the city, and I'm sure in many others, for kids to do this. Shot with the 70-200 f4L in RAW. Does the composition work?~

the composition works.. just not enough detail in the shoes.. and not sure if the subject is strong enough.. but thats a preference thing...

dustin you're just mister strong subject man. i long for the day i can capture a subject worthy of photographer. just kidding now, no offense. either way i think u have a nice shot here philly. hell you could make it black and white and jack the contrast up high enough to eliminate all detail in the shoes and i'd still think it's a cool pic.

I would like to see it in black and white too. I like the shot, but maybe a little more detail in the shoes. I think it is a subject that will speak to some. -Danny

hey now, i did attach a disclaimer about the subject matter part"but thats a preference thing..."
:blah:

all joking aside, subject matter really comes down to personal taste, unless its just so unappealing that everyone thinks the same.. so one must keep that in mind when the critique is more about the subject matter than the technique.. therefore i try to always comment on composition, lighting, dof, overall presentation before mentioning the subject.. and when i remember i try to include that disclaimer.. but i know when i am in a hurry i often forget..
