Really nice Jim - great expression; reminds me of a maths masterI once had the misfortune to have.

I had this compression problem here before. I cropped the image in Photoshop and then resized/resampled it with IrfanView. What could I do differently to solve this problem? I think it is my technique rather than the camera.

Are you compressing the original file?? you might want to open the file, select > copy > new and the paste the picture into the new psd file. Then do what you need to do... If you are working on the original jpg file, each time you save it compresses.. per say.................... Just a tip..

I like the pic.........

Dustin's editing did it. Indeed terrific expression. Seems to me you told the bird to take that expression. Hmmmmm.

brett-

first did a levels adjustment, brought in the left slider a bit and the compensated with the middle.. then i did a curves adjustment and made a slight S curve to increase contrast/saturation.. then a little bit of selective burning in bright areas.. followed with a bit of unsharp mask.. something like 80/1/0 maybe (dont remember)..
