DOM!

This is just what they are looking for down in the Challenge forum. These are PERFECT. This "Zoom"effect was the original idea(Stitch Babe) but it expaned to all holiday lights. You gotta post them down there. Tell them I invited you and you'll hear the regulars all groan. Check out my "Holiday Lights" post and you'll see why.

If you post there make sure you put "Holiday Lights" in the subject line so we all know thats what it there for.

Everyone will love these. PERFECT !

Hi,

Ok so if anybody is interested how i achieved the effect...

1) The original shot was similar to my number 2 shot in this thread. This was a 4 second exposure and zooming throughout exposure.

2) Then took into Photoshop, used the hue/saturation and hit the colorize tickbox. Then just played until I got a colour I liked (yellow).

3) After that, I duplicated the layer twice.

4) On the first duplicated layer, applied a colorize to make a second colour (blue) then a gaussian blur at something like 45%. Then set the layer type to "soft light".

5) Exactly as above but hit the blur factor up to like 70% or something like that (so that it was visible past the blue) - oh yeah colorizd this to red.

Et voila! Something really different but fun. I read up on this trick as a cheat soft focus effect (just with less blur). I think it works really cool...

Thanks guys,

Dom
