We had just arrived at the coast at sunset and this was two of my kids first look accross the sea.

just too much color noise in this one.. really ruins the effect you are going for here..

try shooting this from a lower perspective too.. will give you a better looking silhouette..

you may be able to improve these with a black and white or sepia conversion to take out the color noise..

Thanks Aumma, I think you are right, it is a bit overdone. I really appreciate this advice. Hopefully I will improve over time. This was more of an opportunistic shot. My family, 4 kids and my wife and I had traveled about 300 miles on holiday. When we got to our destination the sun was setting and the kids ran off to explore. Two of them walked towards the beach whilst I hastily looked for and got out my camera. As I say very much opportunistic - more of a "snap" maybe.

Hards, I was thinking that nothing more could be done with this shot untill you posted your edits. I like them so much more. I really do have a lot to learn, especially with composition. Thanks dude!

this shot shows a good eye for a photo.. the technical stuff will come with practice.. so keep at it!!!
