i rather like the b&w representation.

the lighting was abysmal, very overcast, so the colors of the shell were very... well...

blah.

what do you guys think?

I prefer the b/w. The colors are not interesting enough in their own right to hold attention and they are actually distracting in some spots. The b/w makes a real nice study in shape, texture and tonality.

I disagree. I think the colour version is much more interesting.

i actually like both of these.. i find the color one interesting because of the nice pastel color.. but i like the textures that stand out in the black and white..

nice.

I think they both bite. Just kidding. I'm with Dustin but I think the b/w has the edge.

The one thing that I think might improve this already great shot is the lack of the bright spot in the water.

I think both of them are great it depend however on what ones preferences tend to emphasise. Crawford, good job.
