It is very soft. Did you use a tripod?

nope. i was outside in the dark on the second shot. in waffle house on the first one. i just liked the moody feel i got from the second, and the sharpness of the first, although it was shot at 1.8

mike- do you cary a beanbag with you? it would come in handy for low light shots without lugging a tripod with you....keep some of the spontaneity(sp?) you like.

It may be a little soft, but on a non-technical level, i love the 2nd one...

of course, maybe its from going into places like that at 2am, drunk, with my head on the table... it's just a perspective I'm somehow used to

exactly what i was going for on the second one, a "non-technical" level. if you haven't noticed already i try not to follow photography "rules" to a T all the time.

thanks for the comments!

throwing technical problems aside (with softness being the big issue on both), idunno, i am just not finding these interesting.. and i don't know how to elaborate.. they are just everyday objects, and they are not presented with any special lighting or anything that seperates it from just that..sorry man, not trying to be harsh, just honest..

you can't be harsh with an opinion dustin. you either like it or you don't. i have no problem with you or anyone else not liking my photographs. i post them to see what kind of response i get and who will like what. you dont have to apologize for your opinion we all have different beliefs about what makes a good photograph/good subject.

Like I have said before, the themes are fine, thought provoking, and indeed interesting, but rules are broken in a context that dramatises the effect much more than if the rules had to be used. That is the manner in which I understand the rules are broken. He he he he.:|
