the first one, just not enough detail.. while silhouetting ducks can work, its usually best to silhouette them during a sunset or something like that..

the second one is exposed well.. but thereare 2problems.. 1) you are shooting down at the poor animal.. get to its level, present him in a natural way.. 2) its too centered.. leave the poor animal somewhere to swim to or where she has swam from..

keep at it, wildlife can be tough.. but ducks are one of the easiest to find, so getting in some good practice shouldnt be difficult..

Thanks dudes. Good advice as always from you both. I'll certainly keep at it. We're surrounded by wildfowl here so will be putting in some practise soon. A bit worried about bird flu though!
