There are no "christmas" shots on my harddisk...

.... but I tried to find pictures with "some" gold in it!

Please discuss this like normal pictures (impression, technique etc.), but be gentle - the objectsare 40 million years old and very small!

Hope you like it

Merry Christmas

Sven

golden eyes

I liked theghost-like appearance of the second insect.....(it had to stay out of focus!)

Sven, these are some of the most interesting shots I have seen for a while. Nicely presented too. I love the third shot. Is this amber? and the insects caught in the resin of a tree? Fascinating.

Now where's that "cloning" tool and jurassic filter.

thanks I.S.Syd,

this is amber, baltic amber to be precise. I tried my best with the sharpness, but there are limits due to the resin (several mm, my microscopic objectives were not adapted for this medium). The head is 0,1mm long!

The last one was was calculated from 100 slices (heliconFocus), if you like them it was worth the effort..

This is not jurrassic, it is tertiary. The dinos have vanished, some strange mamals are hunting in the woods. Nature did not work on hominids at that time. But there is jurassic amber too, as far as I remember in south africa.

Regards

Sven

Have just checked your link. Astounding images.

That camera set-up is quite something. Extreme macro or what!

Amazing shots.

hey this is off topic...
This picture is part of a joke:

But seriously this balloon provides the best mobile macro light I've ever had. There is a valve inside! I must be "very" alone to use it.
Thanks for visiting my gallery!

very cool images man.. how difficult was it to fit your camera to the microscope, were you able to buy the parts or did you have to custom make some?

thanks Hards80,
the part is call f-adapter, manufactured in the USA - sold in europe at a reasonable price. There are different diameters available. This one covers the range of my microscope, spotting scope and the bigger ocular of my binocular. 52mm thread to the camera side.
Here is one example in your language:
