I think some graffiti is beautiful, ligitimate art...

unfortunaly, for every one of those, there are about 1000 that are eye sores. most the stuff i get around my house is gang members tagging the local daycare center and trees... yes...daycare and trees. hardcore boys.

there was an awsome sketch on saturday night live to deal with graffiti back when Rudi Guliani was mayor of New York City. Basically it went something like there was a city division of taggers that went around and to all new graffiti added the words "sucks" under all new tags in the exact same writing. funny stuff

Best comments I ever saw about graffiti were by some cops.

They said if it starts to appear in your neighbourhood you should treat it like cancer. Do whatever you need to do to erase it fast and everytime it appears. It doesn't matter how much it costs you, and it doesn't matter how much of a pain it is. If you leave it you will really wish you hadn't. The gangs WILL take over your neighbourhood.

A few hundred pounds or dollars in paint and a few hours a week for a few weeks or months even, is a small cost or hassle compared to how much you will lose on the sale of your house if it becomes a gang controlled neighbourhood.

I personally have never seen any graffiti that I though even vaguely approached anything I'd call art.

That guy is a hero in my book.

Bet he doesn't leave his van parked in the street at night - the company name would be just too much even for the non-taggist to resist:G
