I'm not sure about this one.

I think I like it, then I think it's missing a subject. It's not OF anything.

Then I think "yeah but that's the point, you know the photographer was there". And there's nothing there for it to be OF!

Having a person on the road or a car would be cliched, done so many times before and all that.

Maybe it's just not very interesting.

Going backwards and forwards.

Didn't like the colour version nearly as much.

Your opinions needed.

I like it a lot Peri - although I think I agree it couldbe better with say a local walking away from the camera down the track withthe characteristic 'bundle' on the head? (Just a whimsical early Sunday thought & not easy to organise:-))

Sometimes it's best to simply present a photo as being exactly what you intended to capture and leave it up to the viewer to decipher it. Even if you just think it's cool, an observer might fill in the blanks for you. When I look at the photo I get the impression of being alone but not lonely, of not being lost but still being far from anywhere. Making it black and white reinforces that idea by stripping away the details that might suggest whether it's spring or fall, warm or cool. All that's left is a worn dirt road, a tree that is alone but standing tall, and a fence that shrinks into the horizon.

Hi,

Well I have to say that I looked at it and found MYSELF walking down the track looking into the distance - this image really did draw me in so its a winner from here!

Only thing and only a guess but could it have a shade more contrast? I read somewhere that you can pull BW conversions on just the red channel, etc... which makes a different result I myself haven't gotten around to trying that one yet...

I like it too Peri, does draw you in.

What would make this an absolutely perfect shot is if LBoy was sitting in her chair at the end of that track . . .

yes, thank you for the earworm LOL!....i agree with the above, i think it's a great shot. it has some really nice lines drawing you in, yet you pause to look at the tree.* i like the soft silvery sky too -very nicely done .

i think that it works as is, and would work with someone or a car too.. the reason it works as is the nice placement of the tree and the parallel diagonal lines from the road and fence.. the mono presentation works very well and emphasizes the lines.. so for me it works.. a nice image..
