not sure what effect you were going for in the edit, but the original is better IMHO.

In my opinion, the crop is more effective. It helps us focus on the girl and the object of her affection. The grainy effect is far more subjective;it's not to everyone's taste. It's hard to argue when practically every magazine on the stands has used the same effect at one time or another.

Hi again IsoS,

very cute and nice looking "love" you have.

considering the photo i think that if you want using that filter you should start first by changing the color saturation and after that go with the filters.....

i like the original best, the graininess/chopped head crop don't work for me. she's a gorgeous girl and it's an expressive photo, you are lucky to have such a beautiful model at your disposal .

Very nice photo. Don't like the filter. It looks like a severe camera problem and I don't like the girl having a crunchy appearance on her face. I'd like the crop as well, except for the crunchiness.

Hey Syd,

Lovely kid you got there... one question though how did she get hold of your favourite teddy?? :blah:

OK seriously now, from what I have learnt on this forum...

1) The crop is cool but I feel that you should have just kept the top of her head in the frame.

2) Background is a little distracting - maybe stand her off a little and use a larger aperture (i always get that the wrong way round but which ever causes that sweet blur in the background)...

3) Tiny point but hair across her eyes - in fact how about brushing her hair!!!??? :G

4) Final point - i promise! The grainy look only appears to work on a subject that can carry off age - like an old car would look great or a rickety building. Also BW conversions can take this filter well. But it is always worth trying these things out!

Dom

p.s. I WON!!!

i say, use the tight crop.. drop the noise filter.. do a little selective blurring of the background and you will have a winner!

cute shot..
