Hi,

I often take photos out of the window of the plane that I am travelling on. I never know if these shots are just for me or if they have their own place... I always think that the blues that come out in these shots just look fantastic - really pleasant clean lines and great shades. This one stood out for me as one of the best of many (really literally hundreds) of shots out of plane windows - there was just something going on about this one.

Really interested to hear peoples thoughts on this.

Regards,

Dom

p.s. By the way this was flying somewhere over central america - on route to El Salvador...

That's nice Dom. Do you know what that mountain is called? Looks a biggy.

Sorry mate it was 5am and I hadn't slept a wink...!

I took off at midnight from San Francisco, and there was a 2 hour time difference - I am quite sure that it was 5am PST so that would be 5 hours south - somewhere between san fran and El Salvador - to be honest Syd this was one of many HOOOOOOOOOGE mountains that we flew over... was quite something!

You know! the more I look at it the more I like it. Seems more of a cloudy landscape if you get my drift.

I like it. It has a very simple, ethereal feel to it. I feel like I should sit and meditate while looking at it! Mountain's nicely off centre, nice composition. Might crop a little off the bottom, so the band of blue sky at the very top is more prominent in the photo?

Best,

-Ben

I think we all take these shots over and over again, hoping for the one that really captures the feeling of being above the clouds. Mine never do it justice. Now if LBoy could do one of his panos up there....

Thought I'd follow Syd'slead and include a quote, although a bit longer. I'm not really into poetry and not a pilot but always wished I could have written this and it still makes me want to be a pilot. (Sorry if everyone knows it already but I thought it fit the picture.)

Kevin

High FlightOh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious, burning blue,
I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untresspassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
