I am now changing my approach to critique: self critique, and giving details of the shot hence forth and your comments.

I am not sure this will appeal. I was wondering whether I should have added a longer stalk. Don't like the fact that it is so centred but...:G. The good side: effective DOF, background and flower colours blend. Good tone too. Details.

Other details:
Manual Exposure.
shutter speed: 1/30
Aperture value: 6.9
ISO:100

I value your comments and most welcome. Regards Jaki.

Dustin, thanks for the comments. I feel I am making progress. Again, I took this at the beginning. You know at this level, I would not make those mistakes. Can't help much on the stalk. :G

Jaki.

Hi Jaki!

What a beauty! You've done a very good job of isolating your subject against it's background with superb DOF. I do have to agree with Dustin that you do need a stem there. Ican alsosee this image looking really attractive shot vertically.

you already know the strengths and weaknesses of this one jaki, technically this one works well(lighting, exposure,DoF). composition - not so strong. i agree with stitchbabe if this had been vertical with a bit of stem leading in- it would be great! ¬* you have made a lot of progress, it is interesting to see¬* earlier works-¬* you've always had an artistic eye, it's just a matter of putting all the elements in the right place.¬*

along with perhaps a bit of stem, a slightly darker background would really make the flower "pop"... otherwise, and excellent shot. DOF and clarity and exposure are top notch!

Nice shot jaki - I agree with previous posters re the need for some stem. Also think the shot would have benefitted from a slightly darker background - like the DOF.

Nice sharp image.

I agree with the others about having a darker background. The DoF is spot on though.

Thanks for sharing this with us,

Regards,

Syd
