Tried my hand at still life after seeing Sarge's post. Does this have anything going for it?

i think i would prefer the spoon without whatever is in it..

like has been said, good angle, but for still life to work, i think you will need more interesting lighting.. or more textures... something to elevate it above just what it is.. if that makes any sense..

hi frenchy i have done this a few times, its not a bad job, try it again with some coloured card under the spoon, and trickle some water just to the side of the spoon.

Thanks for all the comments guys. That 'stuff' in the spoon is nowhere near as exotic as everyone's hoping, I'm afraid. It's washing up liquid - I took 3 photos using a tripod and blowing the washing up liquid in the spoonto change it between each photo. I then loaded them into photoshop and removed 2 colour channels from each photo so I was left with one photo with a red channel, one with a green and one with a blue. Merging these channels together resulted in the colours you see in the spoon. I got the idea from a magazine, so I can't take credit for it, I'm afraid!

I'll take you critiques in mind and have another go, maybe with a different still life.

Cheers all,

Frenchy

PS - Syd, now you know how it's done, you can produce your own...
