she's very cute and you've captured a great expression. she is a little too centered in the frame and it's a little too close a crop for me. if you had pulled back a little bit and perhaps a slightly shifted angle would make a stronger impact....very nice effort though

Yes, Julies is right, there should be more room above the head because it's cut off a bit and you might want to try a different aperature, the reason for that is the background is a bit distracting. But the picture is nicely sharp.

i think it is an inbetweener.. i think you could have gone even tighter on the crop and made it a square aspect ratio and got rid of most of the background.. you could have also pulled back a bit and got your subject a bit off center..

agreed.
no doubt ckthegreek got the girl at the right moment.
either that was a p&s digicam or too much compression , i find the image too soft.

Many thanks to all for your comments! The pic was taken with a Fujifilm Finepix 2600 (2mp) which is a fully automatic camera (i.e. aperture is fixed). I'll crop it a bit more and sharpen it further as suggested.

It is a better crop and the sharpness and detail show here were the one posted on here showed some serious artifacting due to what you did to resize or resample for post.

Great shot of a beautiful little girl.

The second one that is.

Yeah, the crop really gets the focus where it belongs. She doesn't need all that clutter. She's a beautiful child.
