Does this shot work in terms of diminishing lines? I quite liked the way the right hand cloud bank sort ofmirrors the contour of the road

I think in terms of your question this photo lacks because you dont get the full diminishing perspective of the road due to the landscape and the bend in the road.

Thanks Syd & Tigger,

I thought the bend in the road kind of added to the effect ?

It seems very flat out where you are Steve. Good for skies I imagine.

I think it's a nice attempt at dim lines.

I wonder what it would have looked like if you got on top of your vehicle - that would have given you more road/curve but you would have lost some of the great sky.

OR

Lay the camera on the ground (or near it) - emphasizing the sky.

The other thing that would help is better lighting, either early morning or near sunset - long shadows (better depth perception), and warmer colors.

Keep up the good work.

Not as flat as it looks Syd - no substantial features immediately close by, but a lot of undulation. We have I think, the highest density of trees for any city in the world though.Johannesburg is regarded as a forested area oddly enough, which becomes very apparent from the air. Can never have too many trees in my opinion (unless you happen to be doing a para-drop into them, that is :G).

Thanks for the observations and advice Africa whichI will remember - and you are right, it was a lousy time of day to be photographing (a little after noon - andbefore Syd comments, Ihave re-set my camera timeby 12hrs :G).
