This was a cool windmill that I came across while on a drive with my son.

Interesting shot! Is that graffiti on that thing jutting out?

Great subject. I think it would have benefitted from being place on the 1/3 line as it looks a little too close to the edge to me.

Good Shot!

Crop is a matter of taste.

I agree - crop is a matter of taste. Some may prefer a "rule-of-thirds" composition for this photo and others may not. Ultimately, it depends on what the photographer likes. I think this photo works either as is or cropped. It's a good subject and the color, texture, etc. are all good just as they are. I just thought I'd throw out the suggestion.

I've posted a rule of thirds just for comparison. Some may like it, others probably won't.

I find it interesting that the two crops have significantly different effects on the viewer. The original gives a sense of spaciousness that is lost by the tighter crop - and there's something appealing about that. I'm not suggesting that the crop is superior, it's simply another way of viewing/presenting the subject.

I'm OK with it as a horizontal, just crop a little off the top and add some to the right side.

Interesting color and texture.

Yeah, the horizontal crop works well too, maybe even better than the vertical.
