I don't like the shadows on the bottom right part of the flower. I used natural light, cropped and sharpened slightly. Please tell me how I could have improved this flower. Regards. Jaki.

Jaki,

IMHO, you probably need to stop down a little or use -Ev as the flower looks a little too bright(not quite blown out yet, but very close). Great that you can still see some detail.

The second thing I've learned in my experience is that if we've spent the time setting up, spend a little more time checking for any distractions that may cause shadows, or distract from the original subject. Just my thoughts.

i like how the face of the flower is angled and the yellow is so vibrant .* you captured the texture of the flower nicely too. i don't care so much for the background, but as this is out in nature- i think you did a good job, the DoF works well here.
