It seems like Stamen Improved was going to displease a lot of folks. I decided to do something. Here is the result. I think this is the first time I have got the colour temperature right. :G Comments are welcome. Regards. Jaki

this one is not as good as some of the other recent ones you've posted. the yellow is a bit too "hot", mostly the composition- especially the background is a bit busy. i like the little ants crawling up the stem though .* it's not a terrible shot, i just know you can do better!

Thanks Julie for the input. I was able to see the problem. I have tried to improve it by post editing. I don't know if I have succeeded. Regards. Jaki

Hi,

I'm not so much in macro shooting but in consider the improved version of your photo I can say that it is seenable...but... it is hard to improve enough this kind of stuff since the exposure is a bit high...... that means since you're looking for perfect photo to obtain one you should do another shooting to have the best exposure directly from the camera. I think that on PSD you should improve only contrast and some parts of the photo which are not so "in first plan"..... but you know that allready, so I just wanted to support your work and hope to see more

Regards ZAk

Could be improved by changing the angle so the background is less conflicting. Did you rotate around the flower experimenting with aperture? It may sharpen the subject by burring the background a little more. A nice practice shot, but a little miracle grow might spruce up the bloom. For whatever reason, I am inclined to be attracted to nice dewy fresh looking blooms, as I find them to be more aesthetic. Just my point of view and certainly not an authority oriented critique.

Hi Jaki, I like the second image. Think it would look a lot better, stand out more, if the brown background was throughout the shot ie 'loose' the white. Nice detail and colours in my opinion.

i think you will have to redo it as well.. since the intersections of hte different backgrounds follow the flower, the form of the flower gets lost in this line that is in the background.. also, did you fill flash this one? it has an odd coolish reflection on the closest leaf and an odd colour balance..?
