Hi Mike,

Sorry I started this about his leg! However if everybody looks closely there is a crest (is that the right word?) above his left knee which is indicating that his leg IS under the water (and if you look at the angle of the knee, etc). Just had to clear this up.

What camera did you use? Was this medium format?

Dom

no this was my 20D with the 50mm 1.8 so there was no barrel distortion or whatever was suggested.

All this talk about legs is really interesting, but hasn't anyone noticed that the poor guy has no feet? :?

Cool idea, but I'm surprised you cut off your brother's feet! You don't usually make those kind of mistakes. 'Fess up: how many Coronas had you consumed when you shot this? :blah:

hmm.... i'm gonna try and avoid combatting the word "mistake" there.

i had had a couple. not enough to completely destroy my photo taking abilities though, just to cut off some feet i guess.

No offense was intended, Mike. You're a very good photographer, which is why I figured the foot thing was a mistake.

everyone excuse my analness on beating a dead horse

Dom,

Ok I just cant fathom how anyone can think this leg is underwater.

1) water is not clear and has surface ripples and such - there is none over this leg.
2) the water level is clearly just above the base of green chair. You can see this where his right leg is resting
3) If the left leg was under water, then the water level would have to be just below the knee. This would make the water coming up about halfway up his thigh in the foreground of the photo.
4) Both his legs are clearly on the chair, so unless his left leg is giong through the chair it has to be laying straight
5)if your leg was under water and a wave/crest hit it, you would see deflection waves surrounding the entry point to the water.
6) and at the most basic you can see droplets of water on the lower leg. You cant have droplets is the leg is already under water.

whew.,,,,,

regardless. Im jealous of this location. Wish I was there.
