i find the lack of DOF off putting in this instance, but I really like it when people get down to the eye level of an animal... nice shot

Hey ken, my favourite duck, the Mallard. Subject is nicely captured but I agree with Audioedge that the dof in this instance detracts from the photo (might have been better had his mates not been hanging around in the background).

Ken, the edit is much much better - loosing the out of focus hangers-on has made all the difference. I actually prefer the original wider crop as the tighter crop unbalances the shot by interrupting the curve of the water's edge (just my opinion but the tighter crop just feels uncomfortable on the eye).

I prefer the solitary mallard - the other guys didn't add anything to the photo.

thanks all for the feedback. yea i do admit i really like it without his mates hanging around. tht was alot of cloning ther.

Ok so everyone seems to like the same crop but no buddies. interesting.
