i'm thinking a bit more contrast in the edit, for i can barely make out the flower

petals to the background.

i do like your minimalistic approach to this shot, but i think you need to get closer to

the subject so you can bring the flower more to life.

Sorry my first post got corrupted. My question was how to emphasize the texture of petals better.

Scot, I don't have macro lens... I have different versions of this flower , this one works better, in my opinion. I'll try to lighten the background a bit before going into BW.
