Going thru some of my files and thought I would post this, I took this back in the 80's while visiting some people in the south, while I was visiting we heard this load bang there were some kids playing with a slingshot in the back yard and shot a marble at the glass on the back door. Everyone went to run after them but I yelled and said don't touch the door, I took a quick picture and then when they opened the door the marble and glass fell out onto the floor. I was lucky to get this picture, I think everyone wanted to kill me because the kids got away, but at least I got the picture.

Your story reminds me of this anonymous quote;

"If you saw a man drowning and you could either save him or photograph the event...what kind of film would you use?"

Nice - good dof and composition. I wish there was someone like you around when I broke a window with a hockey ball when I was a kid, then I wouldn't have been grounded!
