I took this picture, with the light streaming through the slits in the fence onto this plant, which seems to be positioned well to receive the same sunlight every day.

I think I probably blurred the focus a bit too much .....

Well - I think I got it right this time - the full image is there.

How do you prevent a blown highlight ?

I had that same problem last night for some reason, images half loading and hanging up. Resolved itself after a reboot - wondered if it had something to do with a recent Windows automaticupdate.

Nice example of DOF Eldjoc but otherwise, for me at least,it doesn't really hold the attention for long - just a little bland?

I think the lack of another colour or two in the shot is the problem but that's just my opinion and others might disagree- maybe tryincreasing the dof to bring the back ground a little more into focus and alive?

Hi,

I quite like this shot. I think the tight focus and very narrow DOF make for an interesting shot. However (at the risk of starting something here again) do feel that the subject is very centered. I also agree that moving around the subject to find a different coloured background could bring things to life a little...

The blown bits are over exposure so I would suggest increasing the shutter speed a little - maybe would need to merge two shots together? It is a very harsh stream of light hitting the tips of this plant (flower?). Alternatively you could use some sort of diffuser to reduce the intensity of the light hitting the subject.
