I have this picture, which I really like... but wonder how can I make it better?

There wasn't much around it... but I really liked the mixture of flowers.

I really like comments and help.

Thanks!

G'day,

well your right it does have some nice colours. I am not sure the composition is right. You could add some contrast and fix up the levels a tad and maybe even crop a little. I get the feeling you want a wild flowers kind of shot. Maybe a slightly different angle . Otherwise it could be a little brighter to really bring out the colours and I think a nice frame would suit it too. Maybe thick white or dark green to contrast.

Ollie

Quick edit....not sure if you like it or not.

Went a bit nuts here... have to compete with Ollie...I hope I don't get banned for saying that, I'm sure Ollie will understand!

your edit is a beauty, yazz!

you've kept the charm of the shot in tact yet gave it some flavor.

well done both wb and yazz.

I'm with Ollie on this one. Yazzy's edit is very beautiful but I like the higher saturation that Ollie offered. Also, the white frame was just eating the white flowers on the bottom. Though Ollie's tighter crop really pinched the purples up top and the charcoal frame wasn't working much better than the white (though some). Perhaps pull out a little Ollie, a little more color Yazzy, and maybe a dark black frame with a charcoal liner?

This is all CS2 framing I gather? Haven't tried it yet myself.

The original image gives a great canvas to paint with, very nice WB.

Didn't notice the green outer border first time around. Lost on the black page but a very nice touch. Will make a print truly outstanding.

I like them both. I wish that my photoshop elements offered a 'framing' like that.

I really like flower type pics. I am currently laid up. I am having an operation in a week...once I am back on my feet, I will be out shooting.

Thanks again!

Both pictures where edited in CS, yes!But as far as using a "framing element" I'd have to say nah. Ollie likes to "select all" and add a stroke to the inside, or make the canvas size bigger and fill in the outside with a colour. My method involves layers... basically expanding the canvas size and using the marguee tool. Very simple thing to do!Cheers -Yazzy :-P
