I was trying to achieve astark effect with this shot of Illinois' state capitol building in Springfield. What's the verdict?

Holy cow!!!

That is a really cool effect. It looks like one of those old time post cards (Sorry not trying to make anyone feel old:G)

If you don't mind could you tell how you did this?

Now on to the Picture . . . I really like the shot, the statue in the middle seems a little cut off at the bottom and the top of the dome also.

Here's the original...actually from RAW. I wanted to crop it so as to minimize the traffic lights on the left. Adjusted some brightness, contrast and sharpness in Corel PhotoPaint X3, and then applied a "local equalization" effect.

Getting rid of the traffic lights altogether meant cropping the photo vertically. How does this version compare?
