Hi All,

Attached is one of the photos I took last year on Longson island, 30 km away from my hometown. I took a lot with different parameter settings in my 20D. I once posted the B/W version on the forum but there were two girls picking the husks in the B/W photo.

Thank you for viewing and commenting.

Regards,

Quan

Very nice, Quan. In my opinion the top half of the photo could be cropped out, as it is difficult to make out what it contains. A tighter crop focusing on the girl and the bowl would be better, I think.

Thanks Waltervery much for your pinpoint comment. I have just made another crop version exactly as what you suggest and it turns out much better IMO.

Will post it on here soon.

Regards,

Quan

yea i alsop agree i think cropping out tht excess ontop will really enhance the shot. but at the same time you dont want to crop too much taking away that sense of environment. I love the lighting here and the image is very dynamic. great work here

Having viewed the cropped version as well; I have to say they both have their merits.

The uncropped version lends a sense of cozy secrecy to what she is doing and makes the mind imagine.

The cropped version is very forthright and eye pleasing.

excellent work!!

I liked the original a lot. This is good too, but I find the lighted areas far too hot in this example. The detail in the upper parts seems to have no context in this crop.

Hello Quan,

I like this shot, I hope you do not mind but I opened up the shadows in Photoshop CS to give a little more detail to areas that were very dark.
