Hello Alex,

It feels a bit tight to me. I'm mostly bothered by the lack of isolation, however. The peacock just doesn't stand out enough.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Alex,

It's a nice capture, but I feel that you should either have it less cropped, or cropped more to focus in on the peacock. I've seen quite a few peacock photos by professionals where they zoom all the way in so you just get the peacock's head and neck, with surrounding feathers in the background... take a look at www.nhpa.co.uk and search for 'peacock' to see what I mean.

For this shot, I'd recommend a close crop, as I find the background distracting.

Best wishes,

-Ben

i agree. the bird in this photo doesn't really stand out from the background, which is distracting. you can achieve that isolation either with depth of field, if you haev some separation between the bird and the background, but if that's not practical, a closer crop might help, and can really convey the colors of the peacock even though you don't see the full fan of the tail... here's an example.

That last one looks almost like the one I took a couple of weeks ago at the SF Zoo.

quite similar indeed! i took mine at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle. the peacocks there wander around loose to entertain the crowd... and beg for popcorn!
