It is a nice ad for a lens cap. :-)

Thanks for sharing.

Quite honestly, I don't get it.

1. The photo isn't self-evident to me.

2. The text "Going where the competition requires..." is, I think, the wrong message.

It suggests that the competition (not the consumer) is what makes Sigma do whatever it does, and that it is a follower rather than a trend-setter.

That's my 2-cents worth.

I'm not sure that I get this either. The message doesn't make much sense. What does "going where the competition requires" mean?? Also, although the image is technically well done, you're only showcasing a lens cap. You're also implying the lenses are waterproof or very rugged, not really Sigma's strong point. Sigma is about value.

well, to tell the truth, i wasn't really trying to tell a story with this, but after i looked at it did.

i was out w/ my buddies taking shots of the waterfalls at Little Missouri Falls, and dropped my lens cap, which reminded me of an online challenge that was out for photographing your lenscap in a unique way. i then took a couple shots and this is where this came from. i'm by no means a marketer, so i was just having some fun with it. it provoked being out in the field and shooting in not-so-safe conditions.

hah, soon after this shot i slipped on amoss coveredrock and fell into a pool ofshallowwater, covering my camera and lens, but luckily it did notdo any damage, just got on the surface. i appreciate everyone's honesty on this. it is much appreciated. i'll stick w/ taking the pictures and leave the catch slogans to someone else

happy shooting

I actually laughed at the slogan so I wouldn't be too worried about that. Brilliant photo Jon.
