Since this is in the critiques section....

The capture of the moment is great - the obvious love between the two, the expressions and especially the hands make the beginning of a great intergenerational portrait. Unfortunately, the background leaves the photo as a great family album snapshot, but I think very distracting for others.

The tilt to the photo, the person in the background.the light switch, the flash shadow and especially the white wall creating a barrier between the two limit the impact. All are there because this isn't a staged moment - it's real life. What to do.

I only had a few moments, but straightened it, cloned out the switch, tried extracting the subjects and then blurring the background and darkening it. While it may work on the original photo and with a bit of time, my results weren't good.

What I think would work is taking the subjects and put them on a plain background. You would have to experiment to see what works, but I think that would increase the impact immensely. Conversion to BW may also help and would make the choice of background a bit easier.

This is just a very crude, quick start, so the extraction of the two is poor and the background a bit too boring. Sorry I don't have the time to play with it a bit more. I think it would be a fun challenge.
