This is a nice shot. You need to bring out the subject more. This could have been achieved with better lighting. You can get more out of the image if you work with it. Subject should be brighter than the door and the shine on the door needs to be toned down a tad.

Thank you, was late at night here. Shot in Raw and I really wanted to get it posted so it looks like I missed some post processing. Much better in the second version.

I'm harping on about about composition I know... still,

However for me this looks justa bit to contrived. (subject looks like he feels the camera)

Actually it looks like he is inspecting the door edge.

if the story is to convey the welcoming of someone through the open door, I'd look for a different wayor pose. maybe I'm wrong about your ideas ?

Head isa bit soft, probably due to subject movement, again due to low shutter attributed to also the rather low lighting. (which is not helping the shot.) Hard to solve this in post processing I think.

I like the edit on this. One thing that struck me more than anything else is how small this guy looks in relation to the door.
