Bored, I got into the car to photograph something - anything.

I found this sorry looking train on a railway yards sidings and took a few pics of it.

Initially the pictures looked, well, crap really, so I decided to play with the colour and saturation levels, and ended up with this image you see now.

It is my first attempt at this type of image, so be gentle :-)

The original image was 3008x2000 and in Jpg format, so I have had to shrink it down to 800x532 to fit it into the forum, so obviously there is some slight distortion to the image.

Shot with a Nikon D50 with standard 18-55mm lens shot at f8 1/250 shutter speed.

Your views, both positive and negative are welcomed.

hi kung fu, this is a nice shot i like the red you put back in, the contrast could have been a bit better, a little dodge and burn would hae sorted it out.

I think this would look pretty cool in just black and white, too.

Really nice shot, and (like Melissa) I feel that giving it a total B/W treatment would set it off quite nicely.

Thanks for the feedback.

I tried it in black and white, but it just didn't have the same effect.

If you wanna play with the image and try something new, please feel free.

I was able to bring out a bit of texture and shadow by using layer modes. That is about the limit of my abilities.

I'm new here and to photoraphy so my opinion may be wrong but I prefer the one withthe redcolour although personally I think it would look better without the blue in the sky and clone out the railing shadow on the left and the telegraph pole and wires as I find them distracting. I think it's a lovely shot

just cropped and then cloned out wires, and used multiply mode.
