This is on the Big Island of Hawaii. The volcano Kilauea is a bit more active now and I decided to take a look.

I was hiking in to get a closer look whena couple before me gave me what I thought a good photo to take in adding to seeing the scale of the steam rising out of the ocean with the lava flowing into it.

Very nice photograph. You did the right thing putting the people in the picture. It gives great perspective. I cropped it and did a few changes in photoshop. Let me know if you like the changes.

I like the changes and intend to do that. All I did was resize for web viewing and sharpen.

I think the original composition is excellent.
All you need to do is bring out the detail in the sky and a bit more in the rocks.
Well done !

While I will agree with Ronnie948's crop I think he moved the right frame too close to the couple. They need more ''operating room'' to their right but not as much as in the original. The bottom of the frame is fine as it regards the couple.

It's good you included the people, otherwise you have a belching steam vent with no one to marvel at nature's disturbances. This also why you needa people perspective in some nature/landscape photos.

That said the picture without the coupleis a keeper because of the opportunity that presented itself.
