Default 7 X 5" Paper for Canon s9000

Need help on how to print on 5 X 7" paper on Canon s9000.
I print from Adobe Photoshop where I set up this size. On s9000 driver, I select 'Custom' for paper size and specify 5 X 7". I wasted a half of the box with no good results: the image is cut with only portion printed on about 2/3 of the paper area. Canon help was no help: "...this printer is not designed for 5 X 7" paper.." This happened to be by favorite size and Canon and Epson are both making it. Are there any step-by-step 'tricks’ that would make this possible?
Thank you very much in advance.

not sure this will solve your problem, but it might save you some ink and paper. have you tried selecting preview print before printing on the printers properties dialog box. i use the i850 and in the printer's properties/setup page you can check a box that will preview the print and require you to accept the output before the printer actually prints the image. it essentially gives me one last chance to abort the printing if it does not look right.

sorry, but can't help with your other issue as i dont have the printer you have.

Are you using the most current driver for the S9000? I believe that the newest driver will support the 7x5 size.
