Default Printer USB cable

Hi Guys!
It's Sunday evening and I have just purchased a new HP 1215 photo printer. I also purchased the USB cable and since the printer is a distance from the computer I purchased a 16' cable. The sales clerk said that this would be fine.

After opening the box and reading the instructions for setting up I'm concerned. The instructions say the cable must be 10' or less.

Does anyone know if the 16' cable is going to give me trouble. Please I need quick help... I want to print NOW!

Hp has no reason to lie on this, most of the Epson I have had say 6 foot. I am guessing it is USB 1.1 not the real new 2.0. The best port is USB #1, closest to the side of case, its the most powerful and printer need the strongest one. Get to the store b4 it closes, to much power and signal drop in 16 feet,

A 16 foot cable is fine...No different from a 6 foot USB cable. (all else being equal,
assuming both are well made and not defective).
