My epson 1290 suddenly decided it wouldn't recognize the replaced black ink cartridge. (Colour works fine) Studying the cartridge sensor contacts they look a bit worn, so I'm assuming this is where the problem lies.

I have a second 1290 which has a badly clogged head - I removed the head completely and soaked it overnight in alcohol. After replacement the head tries 'smashing' itself on the right hand side of the printer.... somehow it's lost its whereabouts! Perhaps if anyone can solve that problem?

So... I want to remove the sensor from the kamikazi printer and replace the worn one. I've seen that there are replacement contacts available so it is obviously possible .... but I can't figure out how to remove the old one - it seems to be a simple push fit with springy fit legs! Does anyone know how to remove it?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated! Thanks.
