Default Continous Flow Inks for Epson 2200

Hello folks a question for everybody out there. Has anybody ever used a continous flow ink system for the epson 2200. I am just looking into it and have a few questions.

1. Is one system better then the other.

2. Is there different ink that can be used, which ones are better?

3. How is the ink quality compared to EPSON ink, is it the same?

4. Does it give a different look to the picture?

Any help would be appreciated, best place to get it, prices etc.

Thanks Folks

1- as far as i know there is no CF system for the 2200 as of this time.
2- the 2200 uses a pigment based ink instead of a dye giving it a wider color gamut and considerably higher longevity.
3- see 1
4- see 1

atually the 2200 uses a pigment dye mix as to get the best of both worlds.

As far as I know there is no one who makes an aftermarket ink equal to Epson 2200 ink.

So your best bet if you want a Continuous ink system would probably be the 1280.

For the epson 1280/1290 there are pigmented 3rd party CFS ink... i use dye based CFS and am very pleased with it. Perhaps not as reliable as the epson original but if you print every now and then it shouldn't be a problem.

HOWEVER! though you can get very good results with these inks, be aware that the inks are not the same. Giving results that are not perfect, so custom ICC-profiles are recommended. Missupply.com provide these custom ICC-profiles for their pigmented inks. Dye-ink must provide themselves, thats why I have monacoEZcolor.

Some advice:

Continous flow systems aren't for everyone, though it sounds easy it isn't always that easy and as said, problems do occur as clogged print heads.

Tetenal (famous for their award winning inkjet papers) are soon releasing their CFS-units, wait for that, perhaps they will make one for the 2200.
