Default New Ink Cartridge vs. Refill

Hi All,
I have a Canon 9100 and it is about that time (first time) to fill up on ink.

What seems to work best...... purchasing Canon cartridges, buying Canon Compatible cartridges, or going the self-filling route?

Where is the best deal for Ink Cartridges and/or Filling kits?

Default refilling ink

I bought ink from a guy on ebay who specializes in ink sales. He sells a kit for the i850. I believe the i9100 and i850 use the same base inks, but the i9100 throws in a couple of photo inks. I am thinking about buying either the 9100 or the hp 9650 and refilling is something i would like to be able to do. I don't know of any one selling i9100 photo inks, or at least, any reputable person selling it. I would love to know if anyone knows of a source for these inks.

the guy on ebay is roger hummel. do a google search and you will find him. i have no financial connection to him; his kit works great and refilling the cartridges is easy once you do it once or twice. i have not been able to discern any difference in print quality between oem and refill ink.
